Saab 9-X BioHybrid Concept

Saab 9-X BioHybrid

Having seen and read about the various car concepts am ecstatic that I don’t know where to start. There are so many articles, all with different POVs, giving their own two cents worth about the concept cars.

Well, going back to my idea of letting people know more about these things. Allow me to delve on the ins and outs of the Saab 9-X BioHybrid Concept, the latest addition of Saab that was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show last March 3. Although just a concept for now, hopefully it will come out of the concept room not for long now.

As the designer Advanced Design Director Anthony Lo described it, they wanted to show a car that is youthful, dynamic and more importantly iconic.

Here are some important facts about the Saab 9-X BioHybrid: Saab 9-X BioHybrid

Design:

  • it reflects the priorities of youthful customers who seek expressive looks, responsible performance and high-tech communications,
  • All in sporty, fun to drive package,
  • It is a combination between the 9X released in 2001 and the Aero X released in 2006.

Interior Design:

  • It features a driver focused cockpit with row of 5 displays where all menus can be operated, adapted or minimized via controls on the steering wheel.
  • It has programmable lights to reflect your mood or the needs for the seasons’ changes.
  • It has a 4-point seatbelt.

Features:

  • It uses rear-view cameras that emerge when you enter the car, these cameras serves as mirrors and displays what they see in front of you,
  • It has an exciting interface for streaming data, entertainment and navigation, allows you to safely use several devices at the same time.
  • One new thing about is the use of solarcell panel which is placed on top as a glass roof. Not only does it add great looks to the car but it also adds charge to the battery pack both when car is parked and driven, it is a way to use the free energy around us to make the car more efficient.
  • The upper and lower bodywork is reshaped to lengthen the roof line which helps reduce drag and in turn reduce fuel consumption.
  • The spoiler flips during heavy braking which adds to the downforce on the rear axle and shorten braking distance.
  • The seat is what they call 2 + 2 where the rear seats are maximized for cargo but can be folded and used if there are additional passengers.

BioHybrid Power:

  • Intelligently powered with 1.4L 85% bioethanol which amazingly delivers 200hp.
  • The electrical hybrid system gives smooth starting and stopping.
  • Gives extra power while reducing CO2 emissions.
