A Worthy Innovation: 2008 Audi R8 supercar

One of the nicest cars I have seen in 2008 is the new 2008 Audi R8 supercar. It is typical of an Audi car that has perfection even to the smallest detail as a goal. The RND, engineers and designers have given countless hours and several thousands of ideas to come up with the Audi R8 that sets another milestone in automobile history.

The exterior design and style of the new Audi R8 literally makes a statement. It’s as if it’s commanding you to simply look at her because there is nowhere you will see anything quite like it. Unlike other Audi models, the four-ringed badge is emblazoned on the engine hood and further accentuates the hoods looks. The arresting and dazzling headlights flank the single frame grille. The side exterior is not to be outdone because in silhouette it certainly gives off a unique look. Clear-cut lateral contours as well as the side blades that all Audi model has creates a head-turner and eye-catching sides. The contrasting color of the air duct and side blades makes such a unique look. Your last look at the Audi R8 is definitely not anti-climactic. In fact, the same oohs and ahhs that will come out from every person will leave every one craving for more…or should I say craving for his or her very own R8. Large air outlets and narrow tail lights accentuates the car’s width. To add and stamp the finishing touch of an aggressive look are four tailpipes and a diffuser that has been fully optimized for its performance.

Fortunately, the interior design is not a let down as it has a very distinct look. It looks like you’re in a cockpit fit for racing. The driver can fully concentrate on the driving performance of the R8 while cocooned inside the comfortable interior.

Several of the finest technology is also maximized with the R8 to ensure that technical precision and performance is pushed beyond its boundaries. The FSI® technology is used where the fuel is injected right into the combustion chamber and ensures an increase in combustion efficiency and engine performance. It actually squeezes more power in every drop of gasoline. The Audi Magnetic Ride adaptive damper system is where a special fluid is put into the shocks and not just conventional damper oil. This special fluid’s viscosity is actually controlled by an electromagnetic field. The muscular heart and soul of the new Audi R8 is the V8 mid-mounted engine and quattro® permanent all-wheel drive. Having it positioned between two axles certainly makes an outstanding weight distribution over the axles. One of the plus points of Audi R8 is that the same advance sound technology that was used on the A8/S8 model range is now used in the R8 which is the Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System.

And certainly, Audi is pretty insistent in making sure they come up with a safe vehicle which does not compromise the performance. Definitely, safety remains to be the topmost importance as evident in its extensive airbag programs, the Audi backguard system, a rigid body shell and three point seat-belts. Audi was the first to use aluminum for car bodies. In R8 a new-generation and high strength Audi space frame using aluminum and magnesium is offered. This body shell offers extreme rigidity and minimal weight and has been specially developed for the new Audi R8. The Audi backguard system on the other hand ensures safety for the occupant in case of rear collision. The shape of the seats will restrain the upper body and support the head.

With all the features, designs, engineering, technology and optional features, one can only wish that somebody would be kind enough to put an Audi R8 on her Christmas socks.
